Anyway, we finally found the shop that sold THE hat. I figured they wouldn't even have it anymore.....but we walked in the store and my mom found the hat right off. And of course there was only one left....and it was size small. We debated for some time as to whether my dad would be able wear a small. Finally my sister called him. I'm standing beside her...and being as my whole family is loud....I can hear the entire conversation. Here is exactly how the conversation went.
Sister: "We found THE hat. There is only one left."
Dad: "You did?! Is it one size fits all?"
Sister: "No...it's a small."
Dad: "Oh...well, I can't wear a small. I have a big head."
Sister: "Are you sure you can't wear a small?"
Dad: "I'm telling you, I can't wear a small. My head is big. Does is stretch?"
Sister: "No, it doesn't stretch."
Dad: "Well....I can't wear a small, I'm telling you that right now. I have a big head. A jug head. I have a jug head".
Sister: "What do you think...do you want me to buy the hat or not?"
Dad: "I can't wear a small. Try it on Amy and see if it fits her. If it fits her, I can probably wear it. And make sure it fits around her ears and everything."
No joke, people...this was the conversation. And guess what? The hat didn't fit me. It was waaaaay too small. My self esteem was harpooned.
Needless to say, we caused quite a ruckus in the store, we left without a hat, and I licked my wounds for the rest of the day. We joked about it a lot. And I pouted about it a lot. But seeing as how I am at least part angel and my halo was shining especially bright that day....I bought my dad some of his favorite candy. And of course I sent him a text that said "I bought you some candy even though you said I have a big jug head. Because that's what Jesus would do". His reply? "You're so sweet". My whole family is just riddled with sarcasm. Hey....eat or be eaten :)
